Palms to Peaks: The Art of Janet EdwardsPalms to Peaks: The Art of Janet Edwards is a collection of more than 60 full-color works that trace the development of artist Janet Edwards over a career spanning nearly half a century. Edwards, a lifelong resident of California, is a regional realist whose etchings capture the history and natural beauty of the state. Through this collection, Edwards pays homage not only to the stunning vistas, palms, groves, flora, and fauna that have become icons of Southern California life, but also to the coastal, central, and northern regions of the state.

A formally trained artist, Edwards often combines etching techniques and the selective application of color, a la poupee, to create a watercolor-like effect. Many of her works are embellished with detailed elements of embossing, which add an ethereal depth to the compositions as a whole. Each piece of art is accompanied by a narrative vignette from Fred Edwards, the artist's husband. These musings offer insight into the regional and personal history surrounding the depicted scenes. This jacketed cloth edition includes an overview of the artist's process and the etching and embossing techniques used to create the work.

"My children grew up, on the East Coast, seeing Janet Edwards' etchings and watercolors around our house as an evocation of the look and spirit of California. Her art is both realistic and figurative, powerfully conveying the landscape in which she has spent her working life. Redlands is fortunate to have been her home."
